In commemoration of International Working Women’s Day, Unión del Barrio reaches out to progressive and revolutionary forces to join us to discuss the crucial importance of Women’s participation in Political Struggle and the pivotal role we play in advancing Raza Liberation Struggle for Socialism!

Workshop topics include:
ORGANIZING COLLEGE & BARRIO YOUTH: What has worked and not worked in organizing Barrio youth and college students; what common grounds of unity is helpful towards outreaching to young mujeres to become part of the movement.
LEADERSHIP/ORGANIZING 101: What women organizations, allies, supporters that exist. Why do community members need to wake up and engage our mujeres to become part of an organization?
EDUCATING RAZA: What are the common pitfalls and shortcomings of the educational system that have kept our Raza from being conscious, organized, active and liberated.
FEMINISM AND ITS ROLE IN THE MOVEMENT: What are the various interpretations and actions tied to the world of Feminism. What does Feminism mean to Raza women and what is the advantage or disadvantage of feminism.
LA MUJER IN 21st CENTURY: How and what does it take to organize as a mujer in the 21st century. What have been our obstacles and how do we engage those around us (family, friends, compas, etc) to understand the dynamics of being la Mujer in the 21st century. How do we strike a balance with familial commitments and political convictions.

Los talleres que se llevaran a cabo:
ORGANIZANDO A LA JUVENTUD DEL BARRIO Y UNIVERSITARIA: Este taller hablara sobre lo que ha funcionado y lo que no ha funcionado al organizar a la juventud del barrio y estudiantes universitarios; qué motivos de unidad comunes son útiles para que las mujeres jóvenes formen parte del movimiento.
LIDERAZGO/ORGANIZACIÓN 101: Qué organizaciones de mujeres, aliados, partidarios existen. ¿Por qué se necesita que miembros de la comunidad despierten y logren que nuestras mujeres participen y formen parte de una organización?
EDUCANDO A LA RAZA: Cuáles son las dificultades y deficiencias comunes del sistema educativo que mantienen a nuestra Raza sin poder concientizarse, organizarse, y liberarse.
FEMINISMO Y SU RELACIÓN EN EL MOVIMIENTO: Cuáles son las diferentes interpretaciones y acciones vinculadas al mundo del feminismo. Qué significa feminismo para nuestras mujeres y cuál es la ventaja o desventaja del feminismo.
LA MUJER EN EL SIGLO XXI: Como y que se necesita para poder organizar como mujer en el siglo XXI. Cuáles han sido los obstáculos y cómo involucramos a los que nos rodean (familia, amigos, compas, etc.) para que entiendan la dinámica de ser una Mujer en el siglo XXI.
