Solidarity With the Bolivarian Revolution!

Compas Of Unión del Barrio, Supporters, & Community Members:

Since February 12th, Venezuela has been under attack by the most violent representatives of a minority of Venezuelans. That minority of Venezuelans primarily comes from what was once among the richest, most privileged, most corrupt, most racist, and fascist ruling classes in all of Latin America. For generations those people stole everything they could, and they treated the oil wealth of Venezuela as their own personal bank account. 16 years ago, democratically elected President Hugo Chávez started to change all that.

The poor majority of Venezuelans loved Chávez, but that old rich minority hated him more than anything else in the world. That rich violent privileged racist fascist minority did everything it could to destabilize Venezuela – they protested, they made threats, they murdered Chavistas and claimed they were being repressed. They even tried to overthrow the government in 2002, and they tried to kill Chávez many times. And 1 year ago they finally got their wish.

Today, that same privileged minority is again protesting, they are making threats, they kill
and claim they are being repressed. And same as before, this reactionary minority has the full support of international media corporations, the United States/CIA, and a list of other rich privi- leged fascists from around the world.

Unión del Barrio has called on our members and allies to support the Venezuelan people, the Bolivarian Revolution, and the democratically elected President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro. We call on progressive people across Nuestra América and the world to reject the lying international media corporations that are nothing more than defenders of rich fascist minorities

in Venezuela. Conditions on the ground in Venezuela remain favorable to the majority of the people – the workers, women’s organizations, youth and the organized masses that support the Bolivarian Revolution. Yet the international media has distorted this reality and is working every day to create an atmosphere of instability and crisis.

Our responsibility as Raza Internationalists & our historical obligation is to stand in solidarity with the majority of Venezuelan people and defend the Bolivarian Revolution during this time of need. Unión del Barrio calls on our members, supporters, and allies to come together on March 5th, the first anniversary of the physical passing of Comandante Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías. This mobilization will be to uphold the Bolivarian Revolution, support the democratically elected Maduro government, reinforce the call for peace coming from this government, and demand a position of non-intervention be taken by the U.S. government and its public and secret agencies of political power.

The Local Committees of Unión del Barrio are thereby called upon organize actions:

Compa José Lara Elected to El Rancho Unified School District

José Lara Elected to El Rancho Unified School District in Pico Rivera

11/10/2013

Comrades of Unión del Barrio,

On behalf of the Secretatiado of the Comité Local Patricia Marin and all of the cuadros who compose our bases in Los Angeles, we send you our greetings and our most fervent congratulations! We want to recognize you for winning the school board election in Pico Rivera but also for accomplishing something that our organization had never done before. It is without exaggeration, that this victory is truly historic. It is historic for our organization because it is our first electoral victory and it is also historic for our people’s movement because this is the first time in four decades that an independent, Raza liberation organization has launched a campaign within the bourgeoisie electoral process and has won a political position. Electoral victories by organizations such as ours have not been seen since the victories of the Raza Unida Party over 40 years ago.

Having launched two electoral campaigns in 2013, we have proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the LA area. We did not have to run as Democrats to win an election. We did not need the blessing of the Democratic Party or their front groups to win this election. We did not need the financial contributions of any corporate interests. All we needed was a good strategy, dedication, hard work and a base of community support. The result was a triumphant 1st place finish!

Companeras and companeros, this victory marks only the beginning for us as an organization. We are quickly learning the tools needed to not only run elections but to win them. As we transition into a revolutionary party, we will continue to wage battle on many fronts; including the electoral one. We must continue to build from this victory. We must continue to build the independent political capacity to become a dual and contending power that will challenge and eventually defeat the two-party system that continues to hold a political monopoly in this country. Our people desire and deserve a viable political alternative that they can truly support. If we fail, our community will continue to be disengaged, disenfranchised and unrepresented.

We commend all of our membership who worked on this campaign and we also acknowledge that this victory would not have been possible if not for the hard work and contributions of our allies who volunteered and donated to this campaign. In particular, the ERUSD teachers whose trust and commitment were key in this campaign.

Last but definitely not least, we want to acknowledge and congratulate the candidate himself, compa Jose Lara. It took a big personal sacrifice to run for school board but in the end, we know that our organization, El Rancho Unified School District and our people as a whole will be better off because of it.

Great work comrades! Let’s continue to build! This year was a great year for the organization but next year will be even greater!

Hasta la Victoria Siempre!

Secretariado, Comité Local Patricia Marin
