Estamos en un periodo de movilización a nivel mundial. La gran masa humana responde a las condiciones escalofriantes que impone el  sistema capitalista, un sistema moribundo, en crisis permanente. Alrededor del mundo, los pueblos se movilizan para rechazar los planes de austeridad que proponen los gobiernos de los países capitalistas, donde rescatan a los bancos y sus dueños, nacionalizando las perdidas de empresas privadas y acumulando grandes ganancias de estos rescates, mientras recortan los servicios de salud publica, educación, seguridad social, pensiones y el derecho a la negociación colectiva.

Con el objetivo de profundizar nuestro conocimiento sobre la respuesta de los trabajadores y las trabajadoras Latinoamericanos/as, se convoca a una serie de cursos los días: 29 y 30 de noviembre y el 1 de diciembre; así como una conferencia laboral los días 2, 3, y 4 de diciembre, para compartir, explorar y dialogar sobre alternativas económicas, basadas en experiencias vividas por los pueblos que ya han decidido construir una economía que prioriza las necesidades humanas (educación, vivienda y salud), para las grandes mayorías y dejar atrás modelos económicos que sólo benefician a unos cuantos.

CURSO SINDICAL: 29 y 30 de NOVIEMBRE Y 1 de DICIEMBRE

Dentro del contexto de la ofensiva económica, política e ideológica contra los y las trabajadores/as por el capitalismo neo-liberal, a través del continente americano están construyendo instituciones de aprendizaje, expandiendo y liderando en la batalla de ideas para resolver los problemas en relación a los derechos de los y las trabajadores/as para vivir con dignidad. Este año la Conferencia Laboral incluye tres días de Cursos que cubrirá los siguientes temas para profundizar la conciencia de clase, la unidad de los trabajadores/as, y los trabajadores en el poder!

• Caracterización de la coyuntura política, económica y social en México, EE.UU. y Cuba: Su impacto en el ámbito del trabajo. Respuestas del movimiento sindical y de trabajadores. Experiencias de lucha y construcción de alternativas. La unidad de acción. La Revolución Cubana, experiencia de la actualización de su modelo económico, político y social.
• Integración: Nuevos procesos de integración en la región. La Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América (ALBA). Caracterización política; solidaridad, complementariedad, justicia social y cooperación como valores. Principales resultados y beneficios alcanzados.
• Encuentro Sindical Nuestra América (ESNA): Caracterización y desarrollo de la lucha obrera Latinoamericana. Plan de Acción 2011-2012 en defensa de las re-vindicaciones políticas por el interés de los trabajadores, la solidaridad, el internacionalismo y la unidad.

LABOR  CONFERENCE: DECEMBER 2, 3, & 4

We are in a period of mass mobilizations around the world. The masses of humanity are responding to the vicious effects imposed by a dying capitalism in permanent crisis. Across the globe people are mobilizing in outrage at the austerity plans that national governments have put in place to bailout banks and corporations- nationalizing corporate debts, while they amass huge profits- and, at the same time, eliminating social protections such as healthcare, education, social security, collective bargaining rights, and pension plans.

From November 29th – December 4th, workers and their organizations, will convene for three days of training (Nov. 29, 30 and Dec.1st) and three days of discussion (Dec. 2, 3, 4) to explore how some Latin American countries have chosen to create an economic alternative that integrates economies focused on human needs (healthcare, education, housing), and not corporate profits.

LABOR SEMINAR: NOVEMBER 29, 30 & DECEMBER 1st

In the context of heightened economic, political and ideological attacks on working people, workers throughout the American continent are building institutions of learning that are expanding political ideas to solve some of today’s growing problems as it relates to the rights of all workers to live with dignity and revert the relations of power from corporations – and their drive for unscrupulous profit- to workers, and their needs for a dignified existence. This year’s Labor Conference will include a three day seminar that will cover the following themes towards deepening working class consciousness, working class unity, and working class power!

• Political, social and economic characterization and articulation of México’s, United States’ and Cuban economies: Its impact on workers, workers’ organization and their responses. Experiences in the struggle to build economic alternatives to neo-liberal capitalism. Unity of worker’s action. The Cuban Revolution: experience in modernizing its economic, political and social system.
• Integration: New process of economic and social integration throughout for the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean by way of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) that puts emphasis on solidarity, complementarity, economic justice and cooperation; its principal results and benefits.
• Trade Union Meeting of Our America (ESNA): Character and development of Latin American worker’s movement. 2011-2012 plan of action for the defense of fundamental class interests, solidarity, internationalism and unity.

CAMINATA EN DEFENSA DEL PUEBLO

In December of 2007, community members, activists and volunteers embarked on a walk to raise consciousness of the atrocities that were a result of Operation Gatekeeper, a 17 year US government initiative to militarize the border with US Border agents and walls.  Operation Gatekeeper and like-minded initiatives that attack our communities are responsible for the death of thousands of migrant workers.

The walkers in 2007 trekked through the neighborhoods of Logan, National City, Chula Vista and San Ysidro, and raised funds to support the work of Unión del Barrio to struggle against migra terror and community self-defense.

This December 10, 2011, Unión del Barrio once again calls on our community and all justice-seekers to join us for the 18-mile walk.  We will walk for our right to defend our communities, and to denounce Operation Gatekeeper and all attacks directed against our people.

CAMINATA EN DEFENSA DEL PUEBLO

El 10 de diciembre del 2007, miembros de la comunidad, activistas, y voluntarios tomaron la iniciativa de crear conciencia de las atrocidades que han resultado del mortífero Operativo Guardian, operativo militar de los Estados Unidos para sellar la frontera con migra y muros. El Operativo Guardian e iniciativas racistas similares son responsables de la muerte de migrantes trabajadores Mexicanos y Latinoamericanos.

Los caminantes del 2007 viajaron por las comunidades de Barrio Logan, National City, Chula Vista, y San Ysidro, con patrocinio para recaudar fondos del trabajo de Unión del Barrio para luchar contra el terror de la migra y por la auto-defensa de la comunidad.

Este 10 de diciembre, Unión del Barrio hace el llamado a nuestro pueblo y a todos quienes creen en la justicia social, a que se unan en esta caminata de 18 millas. Caminaremos por nuestro derecho a la auto-defensa de nuestra comunidad, para denunciar el Operativo Guardian, y todos los ataques dirigidos en contra de nuestro pueblo.
