\"\"<\/a>Uni\u00f3n del Barrio is an independent political organization operating with a volunteer membership base and entirely self-financed through membership dues, community contributions, and local fundraising. We\u00a0have dedicated ourselves to struggle on behalf of “la raza<\/a>” living within the current borders of the United States.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Unionistas do not take our struggle lightly. Our communities suffer under terrible conditions, and the hatred and political poison our people\u00a0are forced\u00a0to endure is unprecedented. Every year hundreds die attempting to find a better life north of the border, and every month thousands are detained and deported. ICE raids break up families. Unaccompanied children are detained in cages. Our labor is exploited. Schools deny us a quality, relevant education. Tens of thousands of our young people are corralled into prisons while thousands more are sent to fight\u00a0imperialistic wars. Nearly all of our human and civil rights are being stripped away. Our electoral power is being aggressively\u00a0diluted. The present reality is as terrible as it is unsustainable, and the U.S., Mexican and most Central and South American governments offer only rampant corruption, budget cuts, privatization, increased political\u00a0repression, militarization and death.<\/p>\n

Uni\u00f3n del Barrio is convinced that we need a political revolution. The only possibility we have for securing a better future is to win our self-determination as a people.<\/p>\n

Since 1981 Uni\u00f3n del Barrio has led struggles to resist migra and police violence; defend the rights of workers, prisoners, mujeres, and youth; and even launched numerous independent electoral campaigns. Within the current borders of the U.S., Uni\u00f3n del Barrio\u00a0has the goal\u00a0of building a peoples organization capable of defending the democratic rights and class interests of la raza. We also support the struggles for freedom of all our sisters and brothers across Latin America which we call “Nuestra Am\u00e9rica.<\/a>” We unconditionally uphold the right of self-determination of indigenous people, and of all poor and oppressed people throughout the world.<\/p>\n

Now, more than ever, we need you to join Uni\u00f3n del Barrio to\u00a0help build this movement for Raza Liberation!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To join Uni\u00f3n del Barrio (UdB):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. You must first review and be in agreement with the Political Program of Uni\u00f3n del Barrio<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Find out if UdB is active in your area by emailing us at <info@uniondelbarrio.org>. Send your name, location, and contact information. If you live in an area where UdB is active, someone will reach out to you and provide you with more information about membership.<\/li>\n
  3. If you live in an area where UdB is not currently active, we require individual prospective members to do outreach in your own area, and gather at least 6 additional people who are interested in UdB to host an informational session. If you already have at least 7 people (total) in your area interested in joining UdB, contact us at <info@uniondelbarrio.org> and we will provide logistical information about how to set up an informational session in your area.<\/li>\n
