A los familiares de los normalistas desaparecidos<\/p>\n

Al pueblo de M\u00e9xico en ambos lados de la frontera<\/p>\n

A las organizaciones pol\u00edticas y populares<\/p>\n

\"\"Uni\u00f3n del Barrio, organizaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica apostada en territorios ocupados al sur de California, declara nuestra profunda solidaridad con los familiares de los 43 normalistas desaparecidos despu\u00e9s de los violentos hechos que acontecieron el 26 y 27 de septiembre en la localidad de Iguala, y nuestro completo repudio a los tres niveles de gobierno mexicano los cuales son los responsables de este b\u00e1rbaro crimen de lesa humanidad. El estado mexicano es el principal responsable de estos hechos represivos y por ende la mayor responsabilidad recae en el presidente de la Rep\u00fablica Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto.<\/p>\n

Desde hace tiempo el estado mexicano ha instaurado una campa\u00f1a sistem\u00e1tica de criminalizaci\u00f3n de la protesta social, en particular con los temas de educaci\u00f3n. Por otro lado el estado mexicano ha promovido un clima de terror y confusi\u00f3n alimentado y auspiciado alrededor del narcotr\u00e1fico y las matanzas cotidianas relacionadas al mismo. Uni\u00f3n del Barrio ha venido alertando sobre la alta probabilidad de que el gobierno mexicano utilizara el clima generado por el supuesto \u201ccombate al narcotr\u00e1fico\u201d con el fin de reprimir al movimiento social.<\/p>\n

Los hechos ocurridos en Iguala nos demuestran esto. Los estudiantes normalistas de Ayotzinapa llegaron a ser el blanco del aparato represivo del estado por el hecho de que eran combativos estudiantes normalistas rurales y de que estaban organizados. Esto los convierte en el \u201cenemigo\u201d del gobierno mexicano y bajo esta l\u00f3gica deb\u00edan ser eliminados.<\/p>\n

Los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n a las pocas horas de ocurrido los hechos violentos en Iguala lo presentaron como un posible ajuste de cuentas entre narcotraficantes rivales. El gobierno en complicidad hace uso de esta maniobra para confundir al pueblo mexicano y presentarse ante \u00e9l como inocente.<\/p>\n

Con estas acciones el estado mexicano muestra su car\u00e1cter represivo y busca atemorizar y contener el avance de las fuerzas sociales organizadas que luchan contra \u00e9l. Por esto instamos a las organizaciones hermanas a continuar nuestro caminar de organizarnos en ambos lados de la frontera y estar alerta para poder contener actos represivos que por seguro vamos a padecer en el futuro.<\/p>\n

Uni\u00f3n del Barrio, a political organization based in the occupied territory of Southern California, extends our deepest sympathy to the families of the 43 missing normalistas after the violent events that occurred on the 26th and 27th of September in the town of Iguala. Furthermore, we express our complete repudiation of all three levels of Mexican state power, all of which are responsible for this barbaric crime against humanity. Because the Mexican state is primarily responsible for these repressive acts, we therefore situate the greatest responsibility of this terrible crime with the Mexican president Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto.<\/p>\n

For generations the Mexican state has instituted a systematic campaign to criminalize social protest, particularly in the sector of education. The Mexican state has also promoted a climate of fear and confusion, sponsored, and fomented the drug economy and daily killings related to it. Uni\u00f3n del Barrio has for some time warned of the likelihood that the Mexican government would ultimately use the pretext of the “war on drugs” in order to repress social and political movements within Mexico.<\/p>\n

The recent events in Iguala are evidence of this. The student teachers of Ayotzinapa became the target of the informal repressive apparatus of state power \u2013 that is narco violence \u2013 in order to murder student rural teachers rural precisely because they were political and they were organized. This made the “enemy” of the Mexican government, and it is this logic of death that should be eliminated.<\/p>\n

Within hours of the violence occurring in Iguala, the media presented it as a possible settling of accounts between rival drug cartels. This was nothing less than mediatic complicity with government lies used to confuse the Mexican people and distract attention away from the Mexican political class.<\/p>\n

With these actions the Mexican state shows its true repressive nature that seeks to terrorize and contain the spread of organized social forces struggling against it. We urge all popular organizations to continue our journey of organizing on both sides of the border and maintain vigilance to resist future repressive acts that we should know are now inevitable.<\/p>\n

They were alive when they were taken, and alive is how we want them back!<\/p>\n
