To Striking Workers Who Are Fighting For 15 & A Union, To The Unions That Support The Workers, To The Organized Sectors Of Our Community:<\/strong><\/p>\n

On behalf of Uni\u00f3n del Barrio please receive this fraternal and combative statement of workers unity to your cause – one that we embrace as our own.<\/p>\n

\"LaborLetter09043014\"<\/a>For over 33 years Uni\u00f3n del Barrio has struggled as a working class organization, both in our barrios and throughout the various industries of this city, always aligned to the cause of organized labor, which recognizes workers as the only social force capable of to producing wealth and from which all profits are stolen. We recognize that without workers there can be neither bosses nor industry. We further acknowledge that the \u201cowners and bosses\u201d live off the exploitation of labor, the work that you do without just payment.<\/p>\n

This is why we have continued to raise the just and correct demand of Full Employment with Union Jobs and Decent Wages! <\/em><\/strong>We assume your struggle as our own, because we believe that to achieve all three components of this demand requires class unity and class struggle. We have always been, and will continue to be on the side of the working class. We believe that the fight for 15 and a Union is reflected within the three components of this historic demand:<\/p>\n

Full Employment<\/em><\/strong>, which ensures a dignified means of existence for our communities and families which does not require us to hold a second or third job in order to meet the basic needs of our families, a job which ensures basic benefits such as paid vacation and days off in case of illness; as well as the guarantee to work which ensures basic health care.<\/p>\n

Union Jobs<\/em><\/strong>, which is nothing less than collective representation of our interests as workers and which represents democracy in the work place. If we are able to socially produce a service or product as workers then we can certainly defend our collective interest as workers. Union jobs improve our working conditions, our health and safety, as well as prioritize workers and not the profits that end up in the pockets of a small group of bandit shareholders and executives.<\/p>\n

Decent Wages<\/em><\/strong>, also considered a living wage, quantified by the demand of $15 an hour can serve as a base line for living well. As local reports indicate, just to meet basic needs such food, housing, healthcare, and education (without including other important things like: culture, recreation, and access to technology) requires at least 15 an hour. We are with you and we struggle beside you. You represent us and our families.<\/p>\n

A las trabajadoras y trabajadores que luchan por 15 y una Uni\u00f3n (sindicato), A los sindicatos que los apoya, A las comunidades organizadas,<\/p>\n

A nombre de Uni\u00f3n del Barrio reciban un saludo fraternal, combativo y de unidad por su causa, que tambi\u00e9n es la nuestra.<\/p>\n

Por mas de 33 a\u00f1os, Uni\u00f3n del Barrio ha luchado hombro a hombro con la clase trabajadora tanto dentro de nuestros barrios, como en las varias industrias de esta ciudad, pegados al principio que reconoce la fuerza laboral como la \u00fanica fuente que genera riqueza y ganancia. Reconocemos que no hubiera empresas ni due\u00f1os sin los trabajadores, y adem\u00e1s, reconocemos que los \u201cdue\u00f1os y patrones\u201d viven del trabajo ajeno, viven de la explotaci\u00f3n de su trabajo- del trabajo que Uds. hacen sin justa remuneraci\u00f3n. \u00a0Sabemos que son las y los trabajadores quienes generan toda riqueza y toda ganancia que hace andar la econom\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Esta es la raz\u00f3n por la cual hemos levantado la demanda hist\u00f3rica que proclama el derechos al Empleo total con trabajos sindicalizados y salarios dignos<\/em><\/strong>! Asumimos su lucha como la nuestra, porque creemos que los tres componentes de esta demanda requiere una unidad como clase, y siempre hemos estado, estaremos y seguiremos estando con la clase trabajadora.<\/p>\n

Creemos que sus demandas por\u00a0 $15 y un sindicato son reflejados en los tres componentes que consisten en:<\/p>\n

Empleo total<\/strong>, <\/em>que es asegurar una fuente de trabajo\u00a0 decorosa para nuestra comunidad y nuestra familia. Es no tener que conseguir una segunda o tercera fuente de trabajo para solventar los gastos b\u00e1sicos, obtener los beneficios esenciales, como vacaciones pagadas y\u00a0 d\u00edas de descanso en caso de enfermedad; y prestaciones que justamente son garantizadas ahora bajo la ley como es el seguro medico;<\/p>\n

Trabajos Sindicalizados<\/em><\/strong> que es democratizar el lugar de trabajo, si socialmente sacamos el trabajo, entonces tenemos derecho de defender colectivamente nuestros intereses como trabajadores. Mejorar las condiciones de trabajo, el bienestar y prioridad para los trabajadores y no las ganancias exorbitantes que se lleva la empresa a los bolsillos de los ejecutivos.<\/p>\n

Salarios Dignos<\/em><\/strong>, cuantificado en 15 d\u00f3lares es la base para vivir bien, as\u00ed como lo han se\u00f1alado reportes locales que indican que para solventar la canasta b\u00e1sica y las necesidades como techo, salud, y educaci\u00f3n, (sin mencionar la cultura, la recreaci\u00f3n y acceso tecnol\u00f3gico), se requiere de por lo menos 15 d\u00f3lares la hora. Por estas razones estamos con Uds. lucharemos con Uds. porque tambi\u00e9n somos Uds.<\/p>\n
