Solidarity Statement from the African People’s Solidarity Committee to Unión del Barrio on its 35th Anniversary

August 27, 2016

The African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) salutes Unión del Barrio on your historic 35th anniversary, and on your legacy of struggle and leadership for the Mexican-Indigenous people for freedom, independence and the return of your stolen land and resources.

As the organization of white people working under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party, and because of the APSP’s historic relationship with your organization, APSC has had the honor to be able to participate in many actions and events held by Unión del Barrio over the years.

APSC acknowledges that the white population of the United States is a colonizing population living on the stolen land of the Indigenous people and reaping the economic benefits of this territory.

APSC recognizes that no white individual or group has any legitimate claim to this land and that the white population has fully participated in the theft of your homeland and in the genocide and oppression of the Mexican-Indigenous people.

APSC stands in solidarity with the right of the Mexican-Indigenous people to the full return of your land and to tear down the colonially-imposed borders on this continent, so that the original owners have complete access to what is rightfully yours.

Again we salute Unión del Barrio on your 35 years of leadership, and express our most profound solidarity with the resistance of the courageous Mexican people until victory is won.

¡Hasta la victoria siempre!
